Four Years Later, Star Wars Reveals the Fate of Anakin Skywalker’s Forgotten Student (Who Survived Order 66 Too)

Ahsoka Tano was Anakin Skywalker’s initial Padawan learner, a significant detail. Master Yoda deliberately paired them hoping Anakin would learn to detach from his attachments. However, the lesson went awry; Ahsoka ultimately learned the value of letting go by leaving the Jedi Order altogether. This deeply affected Anakin, damaging his trust in the Jedi Council shortly before the events of Revenge of the Sith.

Ahsoka wasn’t the first young Jedi Anakin trained. During the early days of the Clone Wars, Palpatine suggested Jedi Knights mentor younglings in battle, claiming it would build stronger bonds between them and their teachers – and, secretly, between the younglings and clone troopers. Anakin ended up working with a group of these younglings, one of whom was a particularly charming girl named Mill Alibeth, who was completely unprepared for the realities of war.

Mill Aibleth Was Anakin’s First Real Student

Mill Alibeth’s story is featured in Mike Chen’s Brotherhood. As a young Zabrak, Mill had a unique Force ability – a form of empathy that let her feel the pain and fear of those around her. This made the Clone Wars incredibly difficult for her, and she eventually distanced herself from the Force. Anakin Skywalker helped her learn to use her ability to ease the suffering of others. While Mill would have been a valuable Jedi in peaceful times, she realized the war wasn’t a place where she could thrive and ultimately left the Order.

Anakin was a great mentor to Mill, significantly shaping her life. Without his guidance, she likely would have given up on her Force abilities instead of learning to use them to help others. Yoda may have noticed Anakin’s success with Mill and other young students, leading him to assign Anakin a Padawan. Regardless of how it happened, it’s remarkable that Anakin has another student carrying on his teachings and creating a lasting legacy.

Star Wars Has Just Revealed What Happened to Mill Aibleth

We knew Mill managed to survive the Empire’s oppressive rule by operating in the criminal underworld, and later became a bounty hunter – even tracking Rey at one point. However, we didn’t know how she avoided Darth Vader and his deadly Inquisitors. Now, Mike Chen’s new novel, Low Red Moon – a story leading into the Star Wars: Outlaws game – reveals a surprising answer. During the Dark Times, Mill secretly worked to help people, using her growing Force healing abilities alongside her friend, Vivert Stag, who was also a young Jedi survivor.

They occasionally worked for criminal organizations to fund their healing practice. As the character explains in Low Red Moon, one job—stealing a bacta tank from the Hutts—went wrong when Darth Maul’s Crimson Dawn got involved. It’s interesting—and a bit ironic—that a former Jedi trainee ended up causing problems for Maul’s operation, and it suggests we might see these characters again in the Maul – Shadow Lord series.

Mill’s appearance in Low Red Moon is a fantastic addition, cleverly expanding on her story in a surprising direction. Fans loved her in Brotherhood, especially the great chemistry between her and Anakin, and always wondered about her path as a bounty hunter, considering her abilities. This story finally fills in those gaps, revealing how Anakin’s former student ended up in the criminal underworld.
