The Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for its strong friendships. We’ve seen incredible partnerships like Tony Stark and James Rhodes, and Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson, who were so close Sam even risked jail to protect Steve’s friend. Now that Tony and Steve are no longer around, the MCU needs a new powerful duo. While Sam and Bucky Barnes occasionally team up, their history and past conflicts still create tension between them.
I’m so excited! Marvel is finally bringing two of my favorite characters back together after four years! It looks like they’re jumping right into a tough situation, but if their connection is still as strong as I remember, I really think this could lead to something huge for them down the line. I’m really hoping they get a chance to shine!
Kate Bishop and Yelena Belova Stole the Show in Hawkeye
Disney+’s *Hawkeye* is a welcome addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, finally giving the often-overlooked hero, Clint Barton, his moment to shine. While *Avengers: Age of Ultron* briefly showed Clint’s home life, it wasn’t enough to let his story conclude without his own series. After the battle with Thanos, Clint attempts to settle into a normal life, taking his son to a show in New York City. But his past catches up with him when his old suit reappears, potentially damaging his reputation. Luckily, a devoted fan, Kate Bishop, steps in to help, and Clint reluctantly teams up with her. Their partnership is quickly complicated by the arrival of Yelena Belova, Natasha Romanoff’s sister, who brings new trouble their way.
Yelena is furious with Clint for Natasha Romanoff’s death and seeks revenge. To get to him, she connects with Kate Bishop. Their first meeting reveals a surprising connection – they’d likely be great friends if they weren’t enemies. Yelena sees a lot of herself in Kate, and although Kate is intimidated by Yelena’s skills, she’s also impressed. They clash again in the finale of *Hawkeye*, where Kate desperately tries to prevent Yelena from killing Clint. While she doesn’t succeed, Yelena ultimately holds back, earning Kate’s respect. Though it’s been a while since they’ve been together, the Marvel Cinematic Universe plans to reunite them for a major future event.
Marvel Zombies Will Test Kate & Yelena’s Resolve
The idea of the multiverse will continue to be important in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Doctor Doom will likely cause problems for it in the upcoming *Avengers: Doomsday* movie, the animated series *Marvel Zombies* will arrive first. This series, taking place in the same zombie-filled world as an episode from *What If…?*, will focus on a team of heroes struggling to survive. The *Marvel Zombies* trailer suggests Yelena Belova will play a significant role, and she’ll be joined by her adoptive father, Red Guardian, and Kate Bishop, who might face off against a zombie version of Clint Barton.
It’s hard to say if Yelena and Kate will both survive the events of *Marvel Zombies*, but their stories could continue beyond the series. In the main Marvel universe, Yelena leads the New Avengers, and Kate is assisting Kamala Khan in forming a team of young heroes. With so much potential for future adventures, this fantastic pair isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Marvel Zombies drops on September 24, 2025.
