Even though the second season isn’t finished yet, Fox has decided to bring back Doc for a third season. In a move reminiscent of classic network TV, Fox has ordered a large batch of 22 new episodes of the medical drama.
It’s no surprise Fox is renewing Doc for another season. The show is currently attracting 7.3 million viewers across all platforms, making it the network’s most popular series this television season.
I’m so thrilled with how well ‘Doc’ is doing for Fox! It’s become a real hit, bringing in our biggest audience for any scripted show this season. It’s gaining amazing traction not just on Fox, but also on Hulu, Netflix, and around the world – that’s why we’ve ordered another 22 episodes! This is all thanks to the incredible vision of showrunners Hank Steinberg and Barbie Kligman, our fantastic partners at Sony, and especially Molly Parker, who brings such depth and emotion to her performance – she really is the heart of the show.
Katherine Pope, president of Sony Pictures Television Studios, expressed her excitement about continuing to work with Rob Wade, Michael Thorn, and the teams at Fox. She noted that the show’s success is a testament to its captivating stories and strong acting, which have connected with viewers around the world. Pope specifically praised the writing of Hank and Barbie, as well as the remarkable performance of Molly Parker, and shared optimism for the show’s future seasons.
