As someone who grew up grooving to the soulful beats of Maze, the news of Frankie Beverly‘s passing has left me feeling like I’ve lost a dear friend. The rhythm of his music was not just something I danced to, it was a part of my life’s soundtrack, a melody that echoed through the joyous and painful moments alike.
Family and friends are mourning the loss of a music legend.
R&B singer Frankie Beverly, the founder of the funk and soul band Maze, has died at the age of 77.
On the day following the demise of the musician known as Howard Stanley Beverly originally, his loved ones announced the sad news via a post on their Instagram account.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: “I embodied a life filled with sincerity, and in my eyes, nobody surpassed that standard. My heartbeat was my music, my family, and my friends.” The Beverly family expressed this sentiment in their message on September 11th. Losing someone dear is an intensely personal and emotional journey. As we grapple with feelings of sorrow, introspection, and remembrance, I humbly request patience and empathy from you all, as we need time to grieve in our unique ways – respecting the privacy that comes with such a process.
In remembrance of our cherished Howard Stanley Beverly, the family kindly requested that everyone shows their affection towards each other, just as he wished for us all.
In 1970, Beverly started a successful band initially known as “Raw Soul,” which later gained fame. They produced popular tracks like “Joy and Pain” single and the timeless song “Before I Let Go.” Eventually, this group opened for soul music icon Marvin Gaye.
The band released a total of nine certified Gold albums and received a loyal following.
2019 found me, the ultimate Beyoncé fan, ecstatic to discover that she had beautifully recreated Maze’s “Before I Let Go” as a bonus track on her electrifying live album, Homecoming: The Live Album. This masterpiece was born from her unforgettable 2018 Coachella performance, a night that will forever be etched in the annals of music history.
At that moment, Beverly expressed her enthusiasm for the Grammy winner’s cover to Billboard. She stated, “This is one of the peak experiences of my life as she has accomplished so much.
Speaking affectionately about Beyoncé as a dear friend of his, Beverly expressed amazement over her exceptional performance. He mentioned that he was taken aback, but in a lovely and stunning manner, when he first heard her hit single.
Over the past few weeks, the musician has revealed his intentions to step away from music, paving the way for Tony Lindsay to take over as the lead vocalist in Maze.
