Many popular TV shows have been revived recently, like Scrubs and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Now, Malcolm in the Middle is joining them with a new series called Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, bringing back many of the original actors. Both fans and the cast are excited about the return, and Frankie Muniz just gave everyone a first glimpse of the cast reunited.
Frankie Muniz shared a sneak peek photo on X (formerly Twitter) with his former costars Justin Berfield and Christopher Masterson. He admitted he wasn’t supposed to post it yet, playfully referencing the show’s rebellious theme song. Muniz expressed his excitement for fans to see the new episodes and shared how much he misses working with his “brothers.” You can see the photo below.
Someone asked me to wait before sharing this, but hearing the theme song reminded me how much I’ve been looking forward to it. I can’t wait for everyone to see the new episodes, and I’m really missing my castmates!

The revival of Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair will reunite fans with Frankie Muniz, Justin Berfield, and Christopher Masterson, along with original stars Bryan Cranston (as Hal) and Jane Kaczmarek (as Lois). Unfortunately, Erik Per Sullivan, who played Dewey, won’t be part of the show. Bryan Cranston has explained that he’s currently focused on his studies at Harvard and has stepped away from acting, which led to his decision not to return.
The cast is growing with the addition of Kiana Madeira as Tristan, Vaughan Murray as Kelly, Keeley Karsten as Leah, Anthony Timpano as Jamie, and Caleb Ellsworth-Clark taking on the role of Dewey. Linwood Boomer, the creator of Malcolm in the Middle, is back as a writer and executive producer, joined by executive producers Tracy Katsky, Gail Berman, Ken Kwapis, Arnon Milchan, and Bryan Cranston. Jimmy Simons and Laura Delahaye will serve as co-executive producers.
The revival will likely be set around Hal and Lois’s 40th wedding anniversary – a great excuse to bring the whole family together. This will give fans a chance to reconnect with everyone and allow the characters to catch up on each other’s lives, all while the usual family chaos of a wedding celebration unfolds.
During an appearance on the Lightweights podcast, Frankie Muniz discussed the difficulty of condensing two decades of family history into just four half-hour episodes. He believes viewers will still be pleased with the final result, saying, “It’s hard to fit in 20 years of stuff into four 30-minute episodes, right? But I think people are going to be very happy with what they came up with.”
The show has finished filming and will consist of four episodes on Disney+. While there’s no official release date yet, the recent release of behind-the-scenes photos suggests an announcement is coming soon.
