Free League Publishing has made it official: The open game license (OGL) for their upcoming sci-fi tabletop role-playing game, Coriolis: The Great Dark, is now open for use! This means creators within the community can freely publish their own content for the game without having to pay royalties. Head over to the Free League website to access both the license details and a unique logo for third-party publications.
According to lead designer Kosta Kostulas, our ambition for Coriolis: The Great Dark is to make the game’s limits as boundless and endless as the cosmos. We’re eagerly looking forward to discovering the tales and universes that the Coriolis community will create.
This action aligns with Free League’s continuous backing of user-generated content. Previously, they made their licensing open for their acclaimed fantasy RPG, Dragonbane, as well as the Year Zero Engine system, resulting in numerous successful external projects.
The new Coriolis: The Great Dark community content license, similar to other licenses, is perpetual and free of royalties. This means creators will never have to pay a fee for their work, and the rights granted cannot be revoked. Even as the license evolves, creators can access all previously published versions. Important to note, this license is exclusive to Coriolis: The Great Dark, not its earlier version, Coriolis – The Third Horizon.
About Coriolis: The Great Dark
In this science fiction role-playing game, the star gates have malfunctioned, putting Ship City in grave danger. However, there’s still a spark of optimism. Drawing inspiration from historical 19th-century explorations, underwater expeditions, and adventurous archaeology, Coriolis: The Great Dark encourages players to brave dangerous missions, untangle complex power struggles, and delve into the enigmas of a Lost Horizon in search of long-lost secrets.
