Free Mafia PS5 Update Adds Open World Mode, Gear, and Challenges Tomorrow

Good news for Mafia: The Old Country fans! Hangar 13 is releasing the Free Ride update tomorrow, November 20th, 2025, on PS5. This new mode lets you explore the game’s world freely and offers plenty of new things to do and earn. Check out the trailer to get a closer look!

Free Ride is a separate experience from the main story in Mafia: The Old Country, letting you freely explore the game world. While you’re in Sicily, you can find horse races, car races, and challenges that test your fighting and sneaking abilities.

You’ll earn Dinari by completing challenges, and you can use it to buy cool rewards like outfits, cars, charms, and weapons. The game will also get new places to explore on the map, and there are even some hidden surprises the developers are keeping secret.

Our goal is to let players freely explore the game world, and Free Ride helps with that by acting as a central hub. Here, you’ll discover and start different Challenges by traveling around, finding Hitching Posts, and connecting with contacts. These Challenges take place in separate, instanced areas, and completing them will lead to combat or unique in-game situations, explained content manager Peter Amato.

The update coming tomorrow enhances the core game with first-person driving and a Photo Mode. It also introduces Cinema Siciliano, a new way to play through the story that transforms the game into a classic Italian film. This mode features beautiful visuals, giving the impression of an old black-and-white movie filmed on a vintage set, and is completed with authentic-sounding audio.

Free Ride also includes a Classic difficulty for players who want a greater challenge. Plus, anything you unlock in Free Ride can be used in the main game, letting you get new weapons and customization options earlier than you normally would.

A recent update improves a popular PS5 game from publisher 2K. According to CEO Strauss Zelnick, the game’s success proves that players appreciate a compelling story, focused gameplay, and a reasonable price. He stated earlier this month that the game’s performance confirmed their expectations.
