Update #2 [August 29, 2025, 12pm]: It’s been over 48 hours since the game CarX Street was mistakenly given away for free on the PS Store to PS Plus members, and there seems to be no immediate solution in sight. Although Sony’s store description suggests this might be a mistake, they don’t appear to be in any hurry to correct it.
It’s advisable to grab the game promptly if you haven’t yet, as there’s no telling when this unexpected free offer might end. At this point, it seems unlikely that the platform provider will take the game back – the glitch has been active for such a long time now that they may just have to accept the loss.
First Update [Thursday, August 28th, 2025, 12pm]: Approximately a day has passed since we first noticed the free PS5 racing game CarX Street on the PlayStation Store in Europe. It seems that quite a few of you have taken advantage of this offer and are now enjoying the game.
Currently, the game continues to be available at no cost, with no modifications in its status. We had anticipated that this issue would have been resolved by now, but it seems our expectations were misplaced.
If you haven’t done so already, go ahead and make your claim. Rest assured, we will closely monitor the situation and inform you promptly when this issue is resolved, including any updates about whether Sony decides to retract access.
In Europe, right now, members of PlayStation Plus are able to grab the open-world racing game CarX Street for free from the PlayStation Store.
In simple terms, the open-world racing game has gained quite a bit of popularity, earning a rating of 4.26 on Sony’s digital marketplace following approximately 2,500 user reviews.
It appears there’s an error, as the game is erroneously displayed as free for PS Plus Essential members until September 10th. Fortunately, we’ve been able to claim and download it without any problems. However, there’s a chance Sony might revoke our access once they rectify this issue.
I’m eagerly hoping that you give it a shot, just in case! It seems like there might have been an oversight on Sony’s part, and they could still honor the transactions. I’ll keep you posted as soon as I find out more information.
