To celebrate the 15th anniversary of PlayStation Plus, Sony will be distributing several free PlayStation Network avatars in the coming week.
Unfortunately, the avatars have not been unveiled as of yet, but a brief overview posted on the PlayStation Blog gives us an idea of what to expect.
Starting August 5th, I’ll have some cool new additions to my PS Plus collection! These include avatars inspired by God of War Ragnarok, Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, Diablo 4, and Twisted Metal. It’s not clear if these are the only games being featured, but honestly, just having them is already pretty sweet!
During the PlayStation 3 era, PSN avatars seemed quite profitable for Sony, as they had a dedicated spot on the PlayStation Store. However, as the PlayStation 4 generation progressed, they gradually faded into obscurity.
With this thought, it’s refreshing to notice the return of avatars, albeit for this unique event.
