I’m really enjoying this sci-fi game that’s currently free with PlayStation Plus! A lot of other subscribers are saying it’s gorgeous and totally pulls you in. It’s a little surprising, honestly, because if you look at the review scores, it’s around a 72 on Metacritic. That’s not a *bad* score, but it’s not amazing either. I think the game is way better than that score suggests – it’s really shining on the PS5!
Starting in September 2025 as part of the PlayStation Plus lineup, players with PS Plus Extra or Premium memberships will get free access to the sci-fi game *The Invincible*. PS Plus Essential members won’t receive this benefit. While it’s unclear how long the game will be available on PlayStation Plus, it currently saves subscribers $29.99.
About the Game
For those unfamiliar, *The Invincible* is a game based on the 1964 novel of the same name by Stanislaw Lem. Released in 2023 by Starward Industries and published by 11 bit Studios, the game didn’t achieve widespread popularity or critical acclaim. However, players who have tried it generally enjoy it, as evidenced by its 87% approval rating on Steam and a 4.37/5 rating on the PlayStation Store. Currently, it’s being highly praised in a popular post on the PlayStation Plus Reddit page, with many comparing it to the 2016 indie game *Firewatch*. This comparison likely stems from the fact that both games prioritize storytelling, exploration, and a strong sense of mystery.
If you enjoyed *Firewatch*, you should definitely check out *The Invincible*. It’s a similar game where you team up with a fellow astronaut to solve the mystery of a strange planet, communicating through radio. It’s one of the most visually stunning games I’ve ever seen, and the planet’s story is incredibly engaging.
This post isn’t particularly remarkable on its own, but its widespread popularity and the many comments it’s received indicate there’s likely something important behind it.
One player shared, “I’m really enjoying it so far!” Another said they’d wanted the game for a long time and immediately bought it upon release, adding that they loved it and recommend others try it.
If you’re not into sci-fi games, or you’ve already played this one, PlayStation Plus has lots of other new games to choose from. They recently added a truly classic PlayStation title to their library. We’d love to hear your thoughts – feel free to leave a comment or join the discussion on the ComicBook Forum!
