For fans of horror games, there’s a fresh, complimentary title now on Steam. However, users with a Steam Deck might encounter difficulties as the compatibility with this free Steam game is currently unconfirmed – meaning Valve hasn’t tested it for the Steam Deck yet. While it may work fine and function well, it could also need some additional setup. Regardless, since it’s free, Steam Deck users can easily give it a try to see if it works without any financial risk.
The game titled Hellkind, developed single-handedly by Motamot and launched on June 30th, remains permanently free. Unlike other offers where games are initially free but later monetized, this one doesn’t follow that model. Instead, it’s a regular game, offered without charge. We can’t say why it’s free, but its length might be the reason – approximately an hour long. It may not boast fancy features, but apparently, it’s quite enjoyable.
Currently, the game Hellkind enjoys a highly favorable Steam User Review rating, categorized as “Very Positive”. Approximately 96% of the reviews submitted thus far have been positive. It’s worth noting that since the game is currently free, it might slightly inflate these ratings.
In the mystical refuge of San Andrés de Teixido, shrouded in fog, you stir to the murmurs of an ancient cult and their dark ceremonies. As the boundary between realms weakens, delve into the mysteries, solve enigmas, and break free – before you’re absorbed into the ritual.
Lately, the game’s creator has communicated some news to the players who have been engaged with the game thus far, expressing gratitude for their backing. However, at this point, there is no information available about what the developer plans to do next or if this particular project will be part of those future plans.
The developer’s message reads: “First and foremost, thank you sincerely for playing Hellkind. This project was crafted in secrecy during the late nights, fueled by a profound affection for folklore, ambiance, and storytelling. I never anticipated the outpouring of warmth and support since its release, and every message, positive comment, shared screenshot, video, stream, and show of support has touched me more than words can express. Witnessing players delve into this quirky universe and make it their own has been a secret wish fulfilled. I’m deeply grateful.
