The new season of *Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End* will premiere on January 16th, 2025. It continues Frieren’s travels toward Aureole, where she hopes to connect with Himmel’s spirit and learn more about him. The journey takes her along the same path she and her old companions took decades ago, leading to the Demon King’s Castle. It previously took ten years for Frieren to travel across the continent and defeat the Demon King, ushering in a period of peace. Though monsters still exist, their numbers and power have diminished since Himmel and his team defeated the Demon King.
The next season will begin with the “Continued Northern Travels” arc, which is the fifth story arc in the manga. It’s currently unclear how many arcs the season will cover overall, as the number of episodes hasn’t been announced. However, we can likely expect to see the “Divine Revolte” and “Golden Land” arcs adapted as well. Before the new season arrives, a special art book will be released on December 18, 2025. This information comes from @MangaMoguraRE on X, a trusted source for anime and manga news. Details about the art book are limited, but it will probably feature artwork from the anime or manga series.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Manga Is on an Indefinite Hiatus

This month, the manga faced another unexpected break due to the creator’s ongoing health problems. Created by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, the series began in 2020 but has frequently experienced delays because of these health issues. It previously paused in January and returned in July. As before, fans are understanding and patient while the creator focuses on recovery.
The series confirmed a temporary break on its official X account, explaining that the creators need more time to work on upcoming chapters. The pause is to ensure they can continue working on the manga without straining their health. Releasing a chapter every week can be very demanding, especially for those who aren’t feeling well, and *Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End* typically follows a weekly release schedule.
The manga is now focused on the Foundation Festival Arc, with Frieren and her friends helping Serie during a dangerous time at the capital’s festival. The second season of the anime will be available to stream on Crunchyroll, which also has the first season. You can read all the manga chapters for free on Viz Media’s *Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End* website, and you can also purchase digital or physical copies of the volumes there.
