I was so thrilled when Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End finally came back in early 2026! It felt like forever, but seeing one of my absolute favorite fantasy stories animated again was incredible.

The popular series continues with the elf mage Frieren as she begins a new adventure after the passing of her hero companion, Himmel. Through this journey, she’s starting to grasp the complexities of human life, including grief and the importance of connection – things she didn’t fully understand during their previous quest.

Season 2 follows Frieren, Fern, and Stark as they journey north towards Ende. Though shorter than the first season, this new chapter still delivers plenty of magical moments, emotional depth, and excellent storytelling.

In Season 2, Frieren, Fern, and Stark continue their travels north, heading towards Ende. Frieren hopes to reach this place to communicate with Himmel one last time.

I’m completely captivated by this story! It’s got all the fun, magical adventure you’d hope for in a fantasy, but it’s also surprisingly thoughtful. It really makes you think about memories, what it means to be alive, and how quickly time slips away – and seeing all of that through Frieren’s eyes, given she’s lived for centuries, is just brilliant.

The story has entered a new phase, the Divine Revolte Arc, which is increasing the tension and challenges for the characters as they continue their journey.
