Because many viewers see From as a continuation of Lost‘s intriguing concepts, they might worry it will also leave major questions unanswered. However, I think both sci-fi lovers and those who are unsure will be surprised by how From changes things up and defies expectations with its smart use of different genres.

I didn’t think anything could be more surprising than Julie’s big reveal, but it turned out I was wrong. The show finally explained a major mystery that fans had been wondering about for a long time. People had suspected Tabitha wasn’t in the Township by chance, and that there was a reason she could see the Ghoulish Children and felt so connected to the place.

The truth about the Bottle Tree is revealed: Jade and Tabitha are the reborn spirits of the town’s original inhabitants. Long ago, these people transformed into monsters by sacrificing the town’s children to a mysterious being in return for eternal life. Jade and Tabitha were the parents of one of the sacrificed girls and are destined to be reborn repeatedly until they can right this past wrong.

This discovery was shocking because it completely changes our understanding of From. While the origin of the Smiley monster and the ritual surrounding it weren’t based in science or reality, that still doesn’t explain the town’s mysterious nature, the teleporting trees, or the ability to travel through time.

Even someone who doesn’t usually like science fiction would likely be captivated by From. The show is full of surprising mysteries, and while it uses familiar story elements, that shouldn’t be a reason to avoid it. Skipping From means missing out on a truly gripping and suspenseful experience that will keep you on the edge of your seat, constantly wanting to know what happens next.
