Frosthaven Early Access ‘Legacy of the Algox’ update now available

The latest update for the early access game Frosthaven, called “Legacy of the Algox,” is now live. Publisher Arc Games and developer Snapshot Games have added a new story focused on the Algox people, along with a new pet, three new heroes players can control, five challenging bosses, two new areas to explore, and plenty of new quests and improvements.

Frosthaven, the game from Snapshot Games and the creator of X-COM, Julian Gollop, with board game designer Isaac Childres as a consultant, is launching a new storyline called “Legacy of the Algox.” Now that the Unfettered threat is over, Frosthaven’s heroes are focusing on a growing conflict with the Algox. When an Algox messenger arrives with a potential solution, the heroes must make a crucial decision that will determine the fate of the Algox and shape their own legacy. But something dangerous and old is awakening beneath the ice.

The game’s already complex story of politics and teamwork is getting even more interesting with three new character classes – Astral, Drill, and Shackles. These classes offer unique ways to play and new abilities that will change how players create their teams and plan their strategies.

  • “Shackles” developed the ability to control pain itself, redirecting damage and harmful effects from his allies and aiming it towards the enemy.
  • “Drill,” an ancient machine made from various Unfettered parts, is a heavy-lifting tank class and offers melee combat and impressive defensive capabilities.
  • “Astral” is attuned to the elements, utilizing them to empower attacks, heal, and if needed, even manifest crystalline weapons to their aid.

Players can now collect a total of 11 unique pets! These pets can be summoned from the Stables and used in battle, giving you access to special abilities and adding a new layer of strategy to fights – beyond just using item cards.

Here’s what’s coming to “Legacy of the Algox”:

  • The Algox Storyline – Help your allied Algox tribe as they negotiate peace talks with their rivals and hopefully gain full cooperation.
  • New Pet – Complete your collection at the Stables with the most elusive pets, adding a dynamic advantage in battle.
  • Three New Playable Heroes – Unlock three advanced classes by completing scenarios and implement new diverse strategies into your repertoire.
  • Five New Bosses – Battle ancient foes, equipped with tactical challenges to overcome.
  • Two New Biomes – Explore new areas and travel far to expand your evergrowing map.
  • Over 25 More Quests – Confront dangerous threats and reveal more of what lies beneath and beyond Frosthaven.
  • Nine Building Upgrades – Enhance and build up Frosthaven even further.
  • Town Hall Challenges – Complete unique objectives from the Town Hall and increase your party’s capabilities.
  • 31 New Items – Expand the arsenal of your Heroes with new items—both crafted and discovered during the new quests.

Frosthaven is available in Early Access for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
