11 Bit Studios has confirmed that the sequel to Frostpunk, titled “Frostpunk 2,” is set for release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on September 18. The game can also be accessed through Game Pass. If you prefer a physical copy, Skybound Games will handle distribution.
Frostpunk 2 first launched for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG on September 20, 2024.

Based on insights gained from adapting Frostpunk for consoles initially, the development team has polished the user-friendly, circular interface even more. This adaptation enables players to manage New London’s politics and populace effortlessly using controllers or thumbsticks.
Making adjustments, the gamepad control system is being refined to streamline essential actions and cater to player preferences. For instance, bumper buttons can rotate through identical district types, or a context-aware radial menu pops up over resource piles, offering relevant actions. After the console launch, the PC version of Frostpunk 2 will be updated, allowing players to use this revamped UI whenever a gamepad is connected.
In a press statement, Igor Skibinski, production coordinator for Frostpunk 2, explained their initial plan was to transfer numerous interface solutions from the PC version to the console version. However, due to significant differences in gameplay between the two games, they found it necessary to modify and refine those systems over time. Despite these changes, their primary goal remains to ensure a smooth and effortless gaming experience for players, allowing them to focus on gameplay without having to worry about how to control the game while playing. Their ultimate aim is to demonstrate once more that intricate strategy games can be both intuitive and rewarding on consoles.
