Hiromu Arakawa, the creator of the popular anime and manga Fullmetal Alchemist, is back with a new series premiering this April. The show is already generating a lot of excitement, and Arakawa has revealed how many episodes are planned. The spring anime season is starting strong, with several highly anticipated releases, but fans are particularly eager to see this new adaptation from such a well-known creator.
Hiromu Arakawa, the creator of the popular series Fullmetal Alchemist, recently launched their newest anime, Daemons of the Shadow Realm, in April. The anime has already been confirmed to run for two seasons, totaling 24 episodes, which will be released across eight Blu-ray volumes in Japan. This means fans have a lot of exciting content to anticipate!
How to Watch Daemons of the Shadow Realm
Now that the first season of Daemons of the Shadow Realm is here, you can watch new episodes exclusively on Crunchyroll. This availability includes fans in North and South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, the Indian Subcontinent, and Southeast Asia. Crunchyroll has also confirmed that the English dub (along with other language options) will be released on the same day as the original Japanese audio.
I’ve been keeping an eye on the new anime coming out this Spring 2026 season, and Daemons of the Shadow Realm is really making an impression. It’s got a fantastic team behind it – Masahiro Ando is directing at Bones Film, with scripts by Noburu Takagi, character designs from Nobuhiro Arai, and music by Kenichiro Suehiro. The premiere was a strong start, immediately pulling me into a really unique and exciting world, and I think it’s one anime fans will definitely want to check out.
Why You Should Watch Daemons of the Shadow Realm

Unlike Hiromu Arakawa’s previous work, Fullmetal Alchemist, her new series, Daemons of the Shadow Realm, takes a different approach. The story begins by introducing siblings Yuru and Asa, whose quiet life in a mountain village is disrupted by a sudden attack and the appearance of strange monsters called Daemons. These Daemons also seem to give people special powers, hinting at a larger, unfolding mystery. Given Arakawa’s track record, viewers can expect a well-crafted story.
This spring’s anime lineup is particularly packed, with both brand new series and the return of popular franchises. There’s so much to watch, you won’t want to miss anything! If you’re interested in the source material, you can read the original Daemons of the Shadow Realm manga on Crunchyroll Manga.
