If you were an Amiga owner, you likely experienced the fast-paced sports game, Speedball, created by The Bitmap Brothers.
Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe, the sequel to the 1988 game, was released on many different systems – even the PlayStation 1. The PS1 version featured 3D graphics, but reviews were generally mixed.
After a long period of testing on PC starting in October 2024, UK developer Rebellion is releasing the game on PS5 on January 27th.
Speedball is a fresh take on a beloved old video game. It imagines a brutal, futuristic sport created by powerful companies to keep people from focusing on their difficult lives – a concept that, unfortunately, feels a little too real.
This game lets you manage teams of athletes with cybernetic enhancements, combining fast-paced arcade action with strategic team management.
Since its initial release, we’ve improved the gameplay and added several new things, like a League Mode and helpful tutorials.
Rebellion is calling this PS5 version the complete, initial release, but they’ve also left space to add more content and features later.
We don’t have pricing information yet, but you can add the game to your wishlist on the PlayStation Store to get notified when it’s released.
We’ve always enjoyed fantasy sports, and we’re excited to try Speedball when it’s released later this month.
