A game originally released for the Game Boy Advance in 2005 is getting a completely updated version next month on April 6th. Unlike the original, which was only available on Nintendo systems, this new version will be released on Nintendo Switch, PC, and PlayStation 5. There are currently no plans for a version specifically for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, but it will likely work on the new system through backward compatibility.
WayForward’s updated version of their 2005 game, Sigma Star Saga, will be released on April 6th. Called Sigma Star Saga DX, this remaster features improvements like a better map, fewer random battles, a completely new experience point system, a revised script, bug fixes, and other undisclosed enhancements. Otherwise, the game remains true to the original 2005 release.
Forgotten Game Boy Advance Exclusive Game
While Sigma Star Saga didn’t receive rave reviews when it first came out on Game Boy Advance – it scored a 68 on Metacritic – players generally enjoyed it. The biggest criticism was its gameplay, so the recent updates aim to address those issues. Despite its mixed reception and moderate popularity, it’s surprising to see the game return in 2026, especially since it’s never been re-released or had a sequel before now.
The game combines the excitement of adventure, role-playing, and fast-paced shooting action, all set in a science fiction universe. You play as Ian Recker, a skilled pilot from Earth tasked with going undercover within the invading Krill empire to destroy them. Throughout the game, you’ll explore diverse planets, encounter interesting characters, and discover countless powerful weapon combinations.
We don’t yet know the price of the game when it comes out next month. Also, there are currently no plans to release it on Xbox.
