As is tradition, we’re wrapping up our Game of the Year coverage by looking towards the future.
Last year, we asked Push Square readers to vote for the PS5 games they were most looking forward to in 2026. We gave them a huge list of 75 games to choose from – and that was after we’d already trimmed it down from over 100!
PlayStation is off to a great start this year, and we can expect even more game release dates for 2026 to be announced soon.
We received over 10,975 votes in our poll about the most anticipated games, and we’ve compiled a list of the top 20 based on your choices.
Let’s jump right in and see which PS5 games our readers are most excited about in 2026.
Okay, so I was checking out the results of this gaming poll, and here’s how things are shaping up. Coming in at number 20 is Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake with just 140 votes, and Nioh 3 isn’t far ahead with 149. Star Wars: Galactic Racer got 157 votes, and Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is at 163. Then we have Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined with 176, and Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve at 179. The Blood of Dawnwalker pulled in 222 votes, followed by Onimusha: Way of the Sword with 262. Jumping up a bit, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight got 278 votes, and Crimson Desert is at 297. Halo: Campaign Evolved and Pragmata are both sitting at 324 and 328 votes respectively. Saros has 429 votes, Control Resonant is at 442, and Phantom Blade Zero rounded out the list with 449 votes.
5. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis – 683 votes (6
It’s funny – despite all the criticism we see in the comments about remakes and remasters, polls show they’re actually quite popular. It definitely gives you something to consider.
Even though we sometimes tease, we believe fans really want a new Tomb Raider game that feels like the classics – full of dinosaur action and impressive acrobatic moves. And we totally understand why!
Legacy of Atlantis is a complete reimagining of Lara Croft’s original game, and the first trailer looks very promising. We’re eager to see how the developers update the classic gameplay.
4. Resident Evil Requiem – 871 votes (8
Ever since Leon was announced as a playable character, excitement for Resident Evil Requiem has really increased. It looks like the game will offer two distinct experiences: classic, suspenseful survival horror and fast-paced zombie action.
With the series consistently delivering strong titles recently – including both new games and a beautifully remastered trilogy – excitement for this new release is naturally very high.
Okay, so I’m already hyped for Requiem, which is coming out in 2026. It seems like it’s going to blend those classic story vibes we all love with some seriously scary new stuff. Honestly, it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of the year, if the previews are anything to go by.
3. 007 First Light – 914 votes (8
Finally, a true James Bond video game is on the way – and it’s understandable why people are so thrilled about it.
The creators of the popular Hitman games are now offering a new game that seems faster-paced and more like an action movie. However, we still expect it to have the same smart gameplay, interesting levels, and memorable lines we’ve come to love.
I’m already hooked, and I have a feeling we’re going to be seeing a lot more about this over the next few months as the May release gets closer. I can’t wait!
2. Grand Theft Auto 6 – 1,277 votes (12
The game that everyone was most excited about last year only came in second this time, and it’s unclear why. Are people tired of the constant delays for Grand Theft Auto 6? Or are they simply over hearing about it? You can be the judge.
Still, it’s bagged a lot of votes.
Once it’s finally released, this game is going to be incredibly popular. We expect to see more news and details about Rockstar’s open-world game throughout the year, and we’re hoping to get a look at some actual gameplay footage soon.
1. Marvel’s Wolverine – 1,328 votes (12
Surprisingly, a game developed by PlayStation Studios is the most anticipated title of the year. It’s even ahead of Grand Theft Auto 6, which is a significant accomplishment.
Marvel’s Wolverine is expected to be a major PlayStation 5 game for Sony in 2026. Developed by the talented team at Insomniac Games, it promises high-quality visuals, exciting action, and a faithful adaptation of the Wolverine story.
The developer has repeatedly emphasized that this version of the character will be extremely violent and graphic; gameplay footage has shown a lot of dismemberment and gore. Simply put, this isn’t the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man you might expect.
We can almost certainly expect a detailed look at the game during a State of Play presentation, but we won’t be able to play it until fall. Get ready to experience the latest adventure with this famously fierce hero!
Maybe it’s a good job that 2026’s schedule is so busy!
