Game of Thrones and Bodyguard stars confirmed for all-new legal thriller with “formidable” rivalry

Aidan Gillen, known for his role in Game of Thrones, and Anjli Mohindra, who starred in Bodyguard and The Sarah Jane Adventures, will be the main actors in a new legal thriller coming to ITV.

The upcoming series, Saviour, will feature Shaun Parkes, known for his role in Death by Lightning. It’s written by Imran Mahmood, who is a criminal barrister, novelist, and screenwriter. Peter Moffat, the creator of Your Honour, and Nisha Parti will serve as executive producers.

The six-episode series centers on Ben, portrayed by Archie Fisher, who accidentally causes a man’s death after borrowing his father’s police uniform for a party and getting into a fight.

Anjli Mohindra stars as Indy Sangar, a highly skilled criminal defense lawyer recently promoted to represent Ben at the Old Bailey. This promotion grants her the Higher Rights of Audience, allowing her to appear and argue cases in the UK’s most famous criminal court.

While defending Ben against a murder charge, Indy finds herself battling police corruption, complex racial tensions, intense media scrutiny, an outdated legal system, and a client who isn’t telling her everything.

I’m completely captivated by her fight for Ben, but it breaks my heart to think that while she’s doing everything for him, her own past is about to explode. It feels like deeply hidden secrets are rising up, and they could destroy everything she’s worked for – her job, her family, everything. It’s a terrifying situation, and I’m so worried about what will happen.

Indiana “Indy” Jones faces a tough challenge from Detective Inspector Jon Creasy, portrayed by Shaun Parkes. Creasy is determined to uncover the truth, but he’s pressured by Indy’s colleague, Aidan Gillen’s character Eddie, who is also Ben’s father. Eddie is fiercely protective of his son and will stop at nothing to prove Ben’s innocence.

“Saviour asks the question – how far are you prepared to go to protect the ones you love?”

Filming for the series is currently underway in Liverpool. The cast includes Abhin Galeya, Tobias Jowett, Nethra Tilakumara, Angus Wright, Claire Goose, Adjani Salmon, Campbell Wallace, and Precious Wuru Alabi.

Polly Hill, ITV’s Director of Drama, expressed her excitement about collaborating with Nisha Parti, whose work she’s been a fan of for some time. She also highlighted her pride in this being Imran Mahmood’s first television drama project.

We’re thrilled to be working with the incredibly talented Peter Moffat and the team at Drama Republic, alongside Nisha, to bring this wonderful story to life. The actors Anjli, Shaun, and Aidan are fantastic, and I’m confident audiences are going to love this exciting new drama.

I’m incredibly excited this show is finally happening, thanks to the amazing work of Imran and Peter,” said Parti. “I really appreciate Polly Hill taking a chance on the script so early on, and I’m thankful Drama Republic joined us to help make everything run smoothly.

We’d also like to thank All3Media International and the Liverpool City Region Production Fund for their financial support.

It’s a dream come true to have such a talented and diverse cast – including Anjli, Shaun, Aidan, and our wonderful female directors – bring the Saviour family to life. I’m incredibly excited to share the show with you all.

Saviour will air on ITV1 and ITVX.
