Netflix recently added two renowned actors from Game of Thrones and The Sandman to its roster for an upcoming Extraction spin-off series, a bold move for this exciting new venture.
As a devoted cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that an upcoming eight-episode series, nestled within the dynamic universe of Chris Hemsworth’s action films, has recently garnered my attention. Previously unveiled, this captivating project will feature Omar Sy, renowned for his role as Lupin, stepping into a new character – a mercenary based in Libya.
It’s been confirmed that Natalie Dormer and Boyd Holbrook are set to join the team in the upcoming project. Deadline reports that Dormer will be portraying the head of a private military corporation.
For now, it remains a secret whether the characters will be allies or adversaries for Sy’s main character.
She gained prominence by portraying Anne Boleyn in The Tudors and Margaery Tyrell in Game of Thrones, while her latest works include Penny Dreadful: City of Angels and an episode of Inside No. 9 titled ‘Curse of the Ninth.’
Simultaneously, Holbrook starred as The Corinthian in the recently finished fantasy series The Sandman. He has also played roles such as Donald Pierce in the intense Marvel movie Logan and Steve Murphy in the crime-filled show Narcos.
As reported by Netflix’s Tudum, the series “Extraction” follows the character Sy, a mercenary who finds himself caught between warring groups and lethal assassins. He must skillfully maneuver through a perilous operation to rescue hostages in chaotic Libya.
This show explores the deep emotional challenges faced by complex and imperfect characters, who grapple with painful experiences like betrayal, personal turmoil, and critical decisions that could mean life or death for them.

It’s been verified that Glen Mazzara will be leading the project. His resume boasts writing contributions to popular dramas such as The Shield, The Walking Dead, and more recently, Nathan Fillion’s television series The Rookie.
When we transitioned to a series format, executive producer Angela Russo-Otstot expressed that the team was motivated to delve deeper into the narrative of this international franchise. This would involve examining more stories about mercenaries who possess both heroic qualities and flaws, shedding light on themes that resonate universally.
Glen Mazzara skillfully tackles complex and subtle themes within the realm of television genres, and it’s a pleasure to have Omar Sy as the focal point in our high-octane, multi-layered narrative.
