Game of Thrones icon’s new Robin Hood show with “modern energy” finally lands UK release date and first-look trailer

In the later part of the 2000s, BBC One broadcast a relatively successful television adaptation featuring Jonas Armstrong as the main character. This series spanned over three seasons, though it didn’t quite attain the peak popularity of the show Merlin.

Fresh face, Jack Patten, who has previously appeared on NCIS: Sydney as his sole screen credit, is stepping into the roles once inhabited by Robin Hood actors for an MGM+ series. This upcoming show promises a focus on both the accuracy of historical details and the exploration of rich psychological aspects.

In the recently released initial glimpse (available at the top of this page), Bean and Nielsen are portrayed as the Sheriff of Nottingham and Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine respectively.

The primary cast is rounded out by Lauren McQueen (from Belgravia), Steven Waddington (formerly of Slow Horses), and Lydia Peckham, who gained fame in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, portraying Priscilla of Nottingham.

Today, a 30-second preview trailer was released, offering viewers a sneak peek of the main characters in action.

In simpler terms, MGM+’s new adaptation infuses a contemporary vibe into the age-old narrative of the charismatic bandit who defied social norms by stealing from the wealthy and giving to the needy. The tale also features an intense and bold romance between him and Marian, a woman of great courage and daring.

In this tale set post-Norman conquest of England, the son of a Saxon woodsman named Rob and Marian, the daughter of a Norman noble, find themselves in a romantic entanglement. They join forces to champion righteousness and liberty.

In their roles, Rob becomes the head of a group of defiant outlaws, while Marian gains access to the inner circle of power at the court. Together, they conspire to halt the corrupt rule and establish tranquility throughout the realm.
