A movie based on the popular novels that inspired the TV show Game of Thrones is currently in development.
What is known about the Game of Thrones movie?
A new report from The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Warner Bros. is officially developing a film based on the world created by author George R.R. Martin. Rumors about a potential movie surfaced earlier this year, and now those rumors appear to be true.
According to Page Six Hollywood, Beau Willimon, a writer for the Star Wars show Andor, is a potential screenwriter for the new movie and has already submitted a first draft. Although the specific storyline isn’t confirmed, details have emerged from previous reports.
According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter and Page Six, the upcoming movie may focus on Aegon I Targaryen, the first king to rule the Iron Throne and founder of the Targaryen dynasty. While much of the story in ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ revolves around him, Aegon I hasn’t appeared in any of the TV series or films yet.
With Warner Bros. expected to be sold to Paramount Skydance, any news about their projects is currently uncertain. However, given the massive popularity of Game of Thrones, it’s likely the movie will still move forward as planned, even with the merger.
Game of Thrones remains incredibly popular for HBO. Recently, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” a spin-off based on George R.R. Martin’s books, received positive reviews. Fans are also eagerly awaiting the third season of “House of the Dragon” this summer, and HBO is developing other related projects, including an animated series about The Sea Snake.
