Game of Thrones star in stylish first look at all-new Tomb Raider TV series

Ever since Sophie Turner was announced as Lara Croft for the new Tomb Raider series in September 2025, fans have been eagerly waiting to see her in costume.

The wait is over! Amazon MGM Studios has released the first images of the former Game of Thrones star dressed as the famous adventurer, confirming that production on the new adaptation has begun.

Turner definitely looks like the character, wearing the familiar outfit: shorts, a green tank top, red sunglasses, leather gloves with the fingers cut out, and several gun holsters.

The actor’s outfit and pose strongly recall the cover art from the first three Tomb Raider games.

Just after it was announced that Celia Imrie, known for her roles in The Thursday Murder Club and The Celebrity Traitors, would be joining the cast, more details about the new Prime Video series have been released.

I’m so excited to hear that Imrie will be joining the cast as Francine, the head of advancement at the British Museum! And it gets even better – Sigourney Weaver and Jason Isaacs are joining too! What a fantastic lineup of talent.

Zoë Saldaña, known for her roles in Avatar and Aliens, will play Evelyn Wallis, a secretive woman who wants to take advantage of Lara’s abilities. Meanwhile, Jude Law, famous for Harry Potter and The White Lotus, will portray Atlas de Mornay, a character already established in the series’ storyline.

Martin Bobb-Semple will play Zip, Lara Croft’s reliable friend and tech expert, who is also confirmed to appear in the game.

Fans who remember the classic game will be happy to hear Winston, the Croft family’s butler—famously known for being accidentally locked in the freezer—is returning. Bill Paterson, known for his roles in shows like Outlander and House of the Dragon, will play him.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, known for creating the Emmy-winning show Fleabag, is the star of a new series coming to Prime Video. The show is based on her involvement with Mr. & Mrs. Smith, a project she eventually left.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge made an agreement with Amazon in 2019 to work with them exclusively for three years. Now, she’s leading the creative team for the new Tomb Raider series, working with co-showrunner and executive producer Chad Hodge.

After starring in popular shows like HBO’s Game of Thrones and appearing in two X-Men movies, as well as the soon-to-be-released Prime Video film Steal, Alicia Vikander is enjoying a period of success – and her role in Tomb Raider appears poised to keep that momentum going.

Prime Video hasn’t announced a release date for its Tomb Raider series, which stars the iconic adventurer Lara Croft. However, fans should get ready – Lara Croft is officially returning to the screen, so it might be time to revisit those classic PlayStation games and prepare for action!
