Go Back to Westeros With the New Stage Play
The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) is excited to announce the team and dates for Game of Thrones: The Mad King. According to co-artistic directors Daniel Evans and Tamara Harvey, the production will feature a talented group of theatre professionals bringing George R. R. Martin’s world to life on stage. The RSC is reconfiguring the Royal Shakespeare Theatre to fully immerse the audience in the story, creating an epic and spectacular experience. They describe the production as a thrilling collaboration and are eager to share it with audiences.
This large-scale play is adapted from George R.R. Martin’s novels and uses the tagline, “Wars aren’t won by those with most cause, but whose story’s best told.” The story takes place in Westeros years before the events in the books, and will feature younger versions of familiar characters like Ned Stark, Robert Baratheon, and Jaime Lannister. Lyanna Stark will also appear in the play.
The world of Game of Thrones continues to grow with new shows in the works. HBO is developing future seasons of both prequel series, House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Plus, a brand new series focusing on Aegon’s conquest is also currently being planned.
Game of Thrones is streaming on HBO Max.
