For quite a while now, Gamescom has been a significant gaming event, especially given E3’s decline. This year, however, there’s a strong possibility that Gamescom could be one of its most monumental events yet for attendees, as reported by VGC. The organizers have confirmed an impressive lineup of over 1,500 exhibitors at the venue. Kicking off on October 19 will be Gamescom 2025’s Opening Night Live.
The organizer has shared that this year’s Gamescom will feature exhibitors from an impressive 72 countries, setting a new overall record for the event. Happening at the Koelnmesse venue, which spans an expansive 233,000 square metres, it also marks a new size record for the event, boasting an additional 3,000 square metres compared to the previous largest event held there.
Gerald Böse, President and CEO of Koelnmasse, stated that our investments are strategically focused on expansion, strengthening infrastructure, and ongoing advancement to bolster the economic prosperity of our exhibitors,” he said. “The expansion to 233,000 square meters and the record-breaking registration numbers underscore the enduring success of our hybrid event format. With this momentum, we are excitedly anticipating a diverse range of opportunities together.
Felix Falk, the managing director at the German Games Industry Association, likewise expressed approval for the record-breaking number of attendees, highlighting that the excitement surrounding Gamescom is indeed substantial, justified by the event hosting spectacles such as Opening Night Live, in addition to on-site events like cosplay contests, esports tournaments, and concerts.
Falk stated that excitement for Gamescom 2025 is immense, whether it’s within the local community or the global games industry. This anticipation is justified given the extraordinary lineup of events scheduled for that year – the Gamescom Opening Night Live, the largest indie area yet, concerts, esports competitions, cosplay, and an impressive array of over 1,500 exhibitors. It’s clear now that Gamescom 2025 is set to be a memorable experience.
As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve learned from the official Gamescom site that this year’s event promises a lineup of some amazing gaming giants. Companies like Hoyoverse, Ubisoft, Xbox, Grinding Gear Games, Krafton, and Sega will be there, along with tech titans such as Netflix, Alienware, Asus, Blackmagic Design, and Samsung. It’s going to be an incredible gathering of the industry’s best!
Several businesses have shared details about what they plan to exhibit at Gamescom. For example, Nintendo has disclosed that “Metroid Prime 4: Beyond” and “Hollow Knight: Silksong” will feature in their display. Additionally, inZOI Studio has confirmed that a playable version of the upcoming expansion for their life sim game will also be available at the event.
During the event, in addition to exploring the showfloor, attendees can look forward to Opening Night Live. This segment is where numerous games will be unveiled, and existing titles will receive new trailers. For example, Capcom plans to reveal an “exclusive sneak peek” of their eagerly anticipated horror game, Resident Evil Requiem. Similarly, Obsidian has scheduled an “exclusive” theater showing for The Outer Worlds 2 during Gamescom.
Sony has announced that they won’t be attending Gamescom for another year, just like they did in 2019. Since it’s been a while since PlayStation last participated in the event, this decision doesn’t come as much of a shock.
