Gavin & Stacey icon in dramatic first look at Netflix’s new Harlan Coben thriller – as release date confirmed

Harlan Coben‘s new Netflix thriller, Run Away, will premiere early next year. The release date has been set, and several preview images have been revealed.

We’re getting our first glimpse of the characters portrayed by James Nesbitt (known for Suspect), Ruth Jones (from Gavin & Stacey), Minnie Driver (of Emily in Paris), Alfred Enoch (The Couple Next Door), and Lucian Msamati (Hostage).

As a huge fan, I was thrilled to find out when the new eight-episode series is coming out! Mark your calendars – it’s hitting screens on January 1st, 2026. Interestingly, that’s the same date Harlan Coben’s other shows, like *Fool Me Once* and *Missing You*, first dropped, which is a really cool tradition!

Run Away tells the story of Simon Nesbitt, who seemed to have it all – a happy family, a successful career, and a comfortable home. However, his world is turned upside down when his oldest daughter, Paige, disappears.

When he finally locates her – fragile and struggling with drug use in a park – he has the opportunity to bring his daughter back home.

She soon discovers she’s not the only one facing this issue, and a disagreement quickly turns frighteningly violent. Afterward, Simon feels like he’s lost his daughter all over again, and his desperate attempt to find her leads him into a shadowy and perilous world, uncovering hidden truths that threaten to destroy his family.

The series will also star Jon Pointing, Ellie de Lange, Adrian Greensmith, Ellie Henry, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Annette Badland, Ingrid Oliver, Maeve Courtier-Lilley, Finty Williams, Joe McGann, and Amy Gledhill in important roles.

Jimmy Nesbitt has worked with Harlan Coben before, appearing in his series *Stay Close* and *Missing You*. Coben recently told TUDUM that Nesbitt is a remarkably versatile and genuine actor, explaining that he’s able to deeply connect with his roles and, in turn, make the audience connect with him too.

Harlan Coben praised Ellie de Lange’s performance, noting she brilliantly portrayed Paige’s complex mix of strength and vulnerability, effectively conveying both the character’s emotional struggles and the secrets she holds.
