Though the popular show Gavin & Stacey finished with its Christmas special last year, its stars Joanna Page and Mathew Horne will be working together again this month in a new holiday campaign for Waitrose.
“How to Say It With Food” is a show about using food to navigate tricky Christmas situations, like family disagreements or even marriage proposals. It will showcase the familiar humor and great rapport between Page and Horne.
A new six-episode series will begin on Waitrose’s social media pages on December 2nd, 2025. New episodes will be released every Tuesday and Friday until December 19th.
You can watch the first episode in the series below:
Joanna Page playfully admitted she and the team were back for more fun after viewers might have thought their time was over. She expressed her excitement about the new mini-series, especially enjoying the chance to work with Mat and Waitrose given her love of food.
Whether it’s a comforting turkey pie or a savory mushroom Wellington, food is central to bringing people together during the holidays.
Mathew Horne said it was wonderful to work with Joanna again, calling it a yearly Christmas tradition. While they’ve seen all sorts of Christmas problems on set, he believes good food always makes things better.
Hopefully, it’s still around when you want it! But seriously, food is such a great way to show people you care, especially during the holidays.

I’ve learned that Waitrose is really focusing on how food helps us connect with loved ones this Christmas. Emily Angliss, who leads their social media marketing, said they’re celebrating the special role food plays in bringing people together and showing we care.
Our new series features humorous scenes based on typical holiday moments, encouraging customers to express their feelings through food. We chose Mathew and Joanna, a well-loved pair known for representing family, friendship, and the spirit of Christmas in the UK, because they were a natural fit for this campaign.
Following the debut of Waitrose’s new Christmas ad, ‘The Perfect Gift’ – a heartwarming story reminiscent of ‘Love Actually’ and featuring Keira Knightley and Joe Wilkinson – comes a guide on using food to express affection.
