Gayle King isn’t burying the lede: she’s going to be a grandmother again.
CBS Mornings anchor Gayle King shared the happy news that her son, Will Bumpus, and his wife, Elise Smith, are expecting their first child.
Exciting news! Actor Alec Baldwin announced on Instagram November 6th that his son, William, and William’s wife, Elise, are expecting a baby. He shared photos from their recent baby shower and a newborn photoshoot, saying they are thrilled and so are their loved ones.
Gayle King shared photos from Will and Elise’s maternity shoot, featuring the couple with their dog and Elise’s baby bump on the beach. She also posted pictures from their baby shower, which had a brown color scheme and included guests like Gayle’s close friend Oprah Winfrey and Oprah’s partner, Stedman Graham, along with the couple’s families.
Gayle shared with Oprah Daily that she’s excited to see them become parents. She said they are incredibly happy, and she’s eager to help in any way they need.
She confessed it had been really hard keeping this quiet, and she was thrilled to finally be able to share the news!
Will and Elise, who married in June 2024, have chosen not to reveal whether their baby is a boy or a girl. Gayle is also a grandmother to Kirby Bumpus and Virgil Miller’s children: 3-year-old Luca and baby Grayson, who was born in May 2024.
The morning show host recently embraced her role as a grandmother by dressing up in a *Carsthemed costume for Halloween, fulfilling a request from her grandson.
Gayle shared on Instagram that her grandson Luca picked out their family’s Halloween costumes this year – and they all dressed up as characters from the movie Cars! She posted a photo of herself, Kirby, Luca, Will, and Grayson in pit crew outfits, jokingly saying she just follows Luca’s lead. She also added with a laugh, ‘Is it wrong to sneak some of the kids’ Halloween candy?’
After the arrival of grandson Luca, the veteran journalist gushed about settling into her new role.
In a 2022 appearance on the We Are Family podcast, she shared how much she loves her grandchild. While acknowledging many people become grandparents, she expressed particular joy in watching her daughter, Kirby, experience motherhood.
