ITV has unveiled a trailer for its upcoming spy thriller, starring Gemma Arterton, known for her role in the James Bond films, as the main character.
I’m really excited about the new five-part thriller, Secret Service! It’s based on a fantastic novel by Tom Bradby, who I also know as the presenter of ITV’s News at Ten – he’s a really talented journalist and author.
Secret Service is a fast-paced thriller that explores the dangerous world of international politics. It centers on Kate Henderson, a top MI6 agent, who discovers evidence that a prominent British politician might be secretly working for Russia.
I’m completely hooked by this story! It’s about Kate, and it feels like everyone in charge is secretly working against each other. She gets pulled into this really risky game of lies and betrayal, where you don’t know who to believe. It’s the kind of plot where finding out the truth could completely ruin her life, and I’m on the edge of my seat to see what happens!

I’m really excited about this new spy thriller! It’s fantastic to see Tom Bradby and James Marsh working together again – James is directing the first three episodes, and knowing their past success, I have a feeling this is going to be something special. Gail Egan produced it, which is another great sign!
Marsh and Bradby first collaborated in 2012 on the film Shadow Dancer. Bradby wrote the original novel and screenplay for the political thriller, which is set against the backdrop of the Troubles in Northern Ireland. This project marked the beginning of their professional relationship.
The final two episodes of Secret Service are directed by Farren Blackburn.
Secret Service is coming to ITV1 and ITVX soon.
