Genndy Tartakovsky Reveals New Original Animated Film (And He Needs Your Help)

Genndy Tartakovsky, known for creating beloved shows like *Samurai Jack*, *Dexter’s Laboratory*, and *Primal*, as well as his recent Netflix series *Fixed*, has been trying to get a new animated film made for years. He’s now sharing a first look at the project and is asking for support to help bring it to life.

I’m so excited! Genndy Tartakovsky just gave us a first look at his new film, *The Black Knight*, on Instagram! He shared that he’s been working on this project for about six years now, and the footage we’re seeing is actually a quick test he made to show the studio. Apparently, even with the test footage, the studio wasn’t convinced there was enough interest, so it’s been on hold ever since. Hopefully, this peek will get things moving again – I really want to see this!

Trying Something Different

After putting the project aside for six years, Genndy Tartakovsky is taking a new approach to get fans excited about it. In a recent post, he explained that about six years ago, he and his team started working on an animated action movie called *The Black Knight*, geared towards a more mature audience. While the studio appreciated their progress, they weren’t convinced enough people would see it in theaters. They even created a short test animation, but the studio still wasn’t ready to move forward. Now, Tartakovsky is sharing that test animation with the public, hoping to generate enough enthusiasm to convince the studio to give the project a green light.

I’m keeping most of the story a secret, but I can tell you our Knight Armor is enormous – about 20 feet tall! A knight actually operates it from the inside using a system of ropes, pulleys, and levers. It all takes place around the 1300s. But I’ve probably already revealed too much.

What Is The Black Knight?

Though Genndy Tartakovsky kept specifics limited, he shared that the Knight armor featured in the clip is a massive 20 feet tall. It’s operated from within by a person using a system of ropes, pulleys, and levers. The footage doesn’t show who’s inside, but it does showcase an exciting fight between the Knight and a mysterious assassin or hired gun.

The assassin relies on quick movements to dodge the Knight’s powerful attacks, but is briefly caught and slammed into a tree. However, the Knight is too slow to follow up, and the video ends with the assassin safely hidden behind the Knight’s large sword.

The Black Knight immediately stands out with its distinct appearance and exciting action sequences. The character’s backstory is also compelling, leaving audiences curious about who is inside the armor and how they obtained it.

We don’t know which studio is currently working on this project, but it has a lot of promise and people seem really excited about it based on the comments. Hopefully, we’ll soon hear that *The Black Knight* is officially in production.
