So, this Gensler guy, right? Former SEC Chairman. Goes on CNBC. And of course, they ask him about the SEC basically throwing in the towel on all these crypto cases. Ripple, Kraken, Coinbase… you name it. It’s like, what took you so long? 🙄
Apparently, these crypto CEOs were doing “victory laps.” Victory laps! As if they actually won something. It’s all just a big, stupid game, isn’t it?
Then Sorkin, the CNBC host, asks Gensler what he thinks. And Gensler, naturally, refuses to talk about specific cases. “Almost 99%” of crypto is based on sentiment, he says. Sentiment! Like a bunch of teenagers trading Beanie Babies. 🤦♂️
But, he admits “something like Bitcoin” might stick around. Because people have a “real keen interest” in it. A “keen interest”! What is this, 1950? It’s all just gambling, people! 😡
He goes on about how if it’s all sentiment, it’s not gonna end well. No duh, Sherlock!
And then, the pièce de résistance: he compares crypto to precious metals. “Only 2 or 3 precious metals.” Gold. Silver. Maybe platinum if you’re feeling fancy. But 10,000 meme tokens? He thinks humans won’t be fascinated. Well, I’m not fascinated by any of it! 🙅♂️
Of course, this is the same guy who approved the Bitcoin ETF. So, he’s playing both sides. Covering his you-know-what. Typical. 🙄
And let’s not forget, he’s still the “nemesis” of the crypto industry. “Regulation by enforcement.” What a load of garbage! He just made things more confusing for everyone. 😠
