Now that Ghost of Tsushima is available globally for all PS5 owners, we’re taking a moment to look back at the fantastic reviews it’s received. To help showcase this, Sucker Punch Productions and PlayStation have released a new trailer featuring highlights of praise from many reviewers. You can watch it below.
Currently, Ghost of Yōtei has a Metascore of 87 on Metacritic, based on 109 reviews. This is slightly higher than the 83 Metascore received by Ghost of Tsushima on PS4, which was based on 122 reviews. You can read our full review for a deeper look, but most critics have praised the game’s enhanced and diverse open world, excellent combat, and other improvements.
The release of Ghost of Yōtei (which included a large initial update) is an important step for Sucker Punch, but they’re still planning to add more content. The co-op mode, Legends, originally featured in Tsushima, will be available for free in 2026. It will include four different character classes, story missions designed for two players, survival missions for four players, and new enemies to fight. Even the Yōtei Six will return as powerful, gigantic, “demonic” bosses.
