The director of the new PlayStation game, Ghost of Yotei, recently discussed the possibility of future downloadable content (DLC). While no single-player expansions have been officially announced yet, as the game is still very new, fans are eager to know if more content is planned. The director has now shared some insights into what might be coming.
So, I was reading an interview with Jason Connell, one of the co-directors of Ghost of Yotei, and he was talking about potential DLC. Basically, Sucker Punch is trying to figure out what we, the fans, would even want in extra content. They’ve done this before with Ghost of Tsushima, and it really helped them make good choices. He didn’t say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to DLC happening, but it sounds like the whole team is still figuring it out and really wants to know what we think.
We’ve reached a point in the project where we can share it with everyone and see what parts of Atsu’s story really connect with players – what they enjoy and what they’d like to learn more about, explained Connell. It’s a valuable opportunity to get feedback from a large audience and understand what works and what doesn’t. We’re excited about Atsu, and like we did with Jin, we’re open to making improvements or adding details if it benefits the story and aligns with our vision for the game at Sucker Punch.
Ghost of Yotei DLC Seems Likely

It’s likely that Ghost of Yotei will eventually receive downloadable content, or DLC. Ghost of Tsushima received new story content after it was first released, with the Iki Island expansion launching alongside the Director’s Cut on PS5 about a year after the original PS4 version. While there’s no confirmation Sucker Punch will do the same for Yotei, they’ve shown they’re willing to create single-player DLC expansions.
Sucker Punch has confirmed they’re planning more content for Ghost of Yotei. While it’s not a new single-player story, a free co-op mode called Ghost of Yotei: Legends is scheduled for release in 2026. This shows Sucker Punch is continuing to support the game, and a future single-player expansion focusing on Atsu is a possibility. However, if that happens, we probably won’t get any official news about it until sometime next year.
In the meantime, Ghost of Yotei is currently available to play now and is exclusive to PS5.
