The well-known Japanese gaming publication Famitsu recently released its newest issue, which includes a review of Ghost of Yotei.
This game, exclusive to the PS5, is launching tomorrow, and it has received an almost perfect score of 39 out of 40.
As a longtime fan, I can tell you it’s *really* rare to see a perfect score from Famitsu! From what I’ve been able to track, only about 30 games have *ever* gotten that amazing 40/40. And it’s still pretty special to see a 39/40 – only 55 games have managed that near perfect score, which just shows how high their standards are!
The review process involves four independent scores, with each reviewer grading out of 10. These scores are then combined – in Yotei’s case, they received three perfect 10/10 scores and one 9/10, resulting in a total of 39/40.
It’s worth noting that Ghost of Tsushima received a perfect 40/40 score from Famitsu when it originally came out on PS4 in 2020. This made it just the third game not developed in Japan to ever achieve such a high rating.
So, Yotei didn’t quite surpass the game before it, but Sucker Punch will still be very pleased with how it turned out.
As you might remember, Tsushima became incredibly popular with players in Japan – and review scores like these are expected to help Yotei achieve similar results. That’s what Sony is counting on, at least.
Will Ghost of Yotei achieve the same success as Ghost of Tsushima? Is it on track to become Sucker Punch’s next big hit set in Japan? Please keep your comments clear and well-written below. We appreciate thoughtful contributions.
