Okay, so in *Ghost of Yotei*, there’s a TON of gear to find. As a player, I really want to get the most out of my favorite weapons, armor, and charms, which means fully upgrading them. But here’s the thing – how you upgrade each type of gear is pretty different. Weapons, armor, and charms all have their own unique upgrade paths and what you need to do them.
This guide covers everything you need to upgrade your weapons, armor, and charms in *Ghost of Yotei*.
Weapons
To upgrade melee weapons, you’ll need to bring specific materials to the Father’s Forge, which is located at Atsu’s Home.
You can improve your ranged weapons by visiting Ran The Bowyer and trading her Coins and specific materials. You’ll find her at the Yotei’s Shadow Inn, or you can make it easier by finding her while camping.
If you’re missing something needed for an upgrade, the upgrade menu will show you helpful tips on where to find it.
Armor
Ginji The Armorer takes care of all armor upgrades. You can find him at the Yotei’s Shadow Inn, the Huranui’s Rest Inn, or back at your camp. He can upgrade your armor up to rank four using Coins and other resources. You can also buy Armor Dyes from him to customize its appearance.
Ginji’s initial availability is tied to encountering Taro The Scavenger.

Charms
Many of these accessories can be improved three times to boost their abilities. This upgrade system is separate from whether a charm is considered minor or major, and not all charms can be upgraded.
Increasing the power of charms is simple – you just need to finish a few special tasks related to charms.
To save time and effort, use the checkpoint system when you find a good spot to complete these objectives. After finishing a task, immediately reload your last save. This keeps your charm upgrades but resets the area, letting you repeat the task until you fully upgrade the charm’s three levels.
That is how to upgrade weapons, armor, and charms to their maximum extent in Ghost of Yotei.
