Though occurring 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima, there’s still a chance for continuity with its upcoming sequel, Ghost of Yōtei. During a recent interview with MinnMax, co-director Nate Fox from Sucker Punch Productions clarified that both endings in Tsushima are valid and may have implications for the new game.
Approximately 300 years have passed since then. Both endings are considered valid according to Fox. However, it’s unlikely that anyone will reference events from Tsushima as they are set in a distant past. Atsu, the new protagonist, does not seem to be related to Jin Sakai, and it appears she may not even be familiar with him, since her response suggests she has no knowledge of him.
It’s intriguing to notice Fox’s facial expression when he discusses Jin not being a true legend. Whether his actions have left some sort of influence, though unseen at present, is yet to be determined. For now, we should view this as Atsu’s tale, as she journeys across the land of Ezo in pursuit of the Yōtei Six.
The spirit of Mount Yōtei becomes available on October 2nd at a price point of $69.99. For a sneak peek into the stunning landscapes you’ll explore while seeking vengeance, take a look at this recent video here.
