Giada De Laurentiis isn’t entirely convinced that her daughter, Jade, will continue the culinary path she has taken.

Giada, who’s 54 years old, mentioned to Us Weekly during the celebration of Peroni Italian Beer Ice launch, “She doesn’t share my passion for cooking like I do, and she won’t be taking on my culinary legacy.” She added, “Through social media, we’re discovering our unique ways of expressing ourselves together.

On a visit to the Instagram profile of the award-winning chef, viewers are bound to come across clips featuring Giada and her 17-year-old daughter, Jade, experimenting with and discovering fresh culinary creations within their kitchen.

Although the videos captivated fans primarily due to the celebrities involved, Giada emphasized that she never compels her daughter to delve into cooking as a career.

Giada clarified, “She’s all about theater. Her heart beats for the stage, whether it’s acting, performing, or singing. She even plays in a band. These are her true passions. As for food, yes, she enjoys it. She can whip up some fantastic pasta, but not for me. Instead, she prepares dishes for her friends and partner. I believe she delights in trying out new flavors and adding unique twists to her favorite foods using unfamiliar tastes.

This month, the mother-daughter team delved into a salmon cup recipe created by Sam Schnur, the founder of Naughty Fork. They’ve shared their experiences trying out the Dubai chocolate fad and crafting Easter sweets as well.

Reflecting on Jade embarking on another year of high school, Giada finds herself reminiscing about the early days when she introduced her daughter to little aspects of the kitchen.

Giada shared, “From an early age, her curiosity was evident, and I nurtured it. I allowed her access to the kitchen. … She would flip through cookbooks and choose recipes she enjoyed. Often, these recipes had captivating photos, which ignited her interest, and taught me a valuable lesson – children are more inclined to eat dishes they feel ownership over, helping me connect with them better.

To Giada, actively involving parents in cooking activities with their kids can lead to a greater sense of empowerment for those young ones.

She mentioned that’s likely where she and Jade picked up their language skills, she suggested that parents engage their children in cooking activities to spark conversations. This, she believes, is how she and Jade have grown closer over time, and gradually, Jade has learned some cooking skills as well.
