Glastonbury 2025 confirms Rod Stewart for festival’s Legends slot

As a cinema devotee with a penchant for nostalgia and a deep appreciation for timeless music, I can’t help but feel a rush of excitement at the news that Rod Stewart will be gracing the hallowed grounds of Glastonbury once more. Having grown up listening to his soulful tunes and watching him perform in my younger days, this feels like a full-circle moment for me.

It has been officially announced that Rod Stewart will be the main act for Glastonbury’s legendary Sunday spot, living up to the tradition and essence of this renowned event.

Despite earlier stating his intention to cease large-scale global tours by the end of 2025, Stewart expressed enthusiasm and readiness to entertain and delight his fans at Glastonbury.

At Glastonbury, the time slot on Sundays is highly anticipated and consistently attracts a vast audience.

Indeed, he’s no stranger to Glastonbury, having been the main act back in 2002.

During that period, Stewart shared the stage with acts such as Coldplay, Stereophonics, The White Stripes, among others.

It’s fair to conclude that quite a bit has evolved since Stewart last appeared at Glastonbury, as the festival tickets back then were under £100. Contrasting this, all tickets for Glastonbury 2025 have already been sold out, with each ticket now priced at £373.50, inclusive of a £5 booking fee.

Stewart has been confirmed as the opening act for Glastonbury 2025, making him one of the oldest musicians, at 79 years old, to take the main stage at this prestigious event.

Although I may not be the eldest, I’ve had the privilege to follow in the footsteps of musical legends like Paul McCartney and Burt Bacharach. Paul recently rocked the Glastonbury stage at the age of 80, while Burt graced the Pyramid stage at 87. Quite inspiring, isn’t it?

Although Stewart’s songs aren’t currently charting, there’s no doubt that his legendary tunes will undoubtedly ignite the audience when he performs at Glastonbury next year.

He already has tours lined up for Europe and North America next year, but did say just last week that he will be retiring from major world tours.

He expressed: “I find joy in my work and it’s a pleasure to do what I love. I’m in good shape, have plenty of hair, and can sprint 100 meters in just 18 seconds at the ripe age of 79. For the upcoming year, I’m considering embarking on a Swing Fever tour, playing smaller venues for a more personal touch. However, I might decide against it as well.

2025 finds me eagerly anticipating the magical vibes of Glastonbury Festival, gracing Worthy Farm from 25th to 29th June. However, recent buzz has me pondering over a significant shift in their ticketing procedure, which has stirred up quite a conversation.

In contrast to earlier times when potential ticket purchasers would constantly refresh webpages in hopes of securing tickets, it has been verified that joining a virtual line is now necessary for obtaining tickets.

The decision to change it up divided fans, but ultimately didn’t have a major impact on ticket sales as Glastonbury 2025 remains sold out.

For the time being, let’s stay tuned to find out who else might be performing alongside Stewart at the Glastonbury Festival in 2025.
