David Corenswet’s acting career reached unprecedented heights when he was chosen as the lead in James Gunn’s Superman. Before securing the role in the DC Universe film, Corenswet had already worked on other projects. He is best known for his co-starring role as Scott in Twisters, and it was while filming this disaster movie that he found out about his part in the superhero film. Now that the movie has hit theaters, his fellow actors from the 2024 film, including Glen Powell, are expressing their admiration for him. Some even shared videos of the moment they learned Corenswet would portray Clark Kent.
Over the exhilarating weekend of Superman‘s release, I, a devoted cinema enthusiast, found myself moved by Glen Powell’s heartfelt tribute to David Corenswet, whom he affectionately referred to as a “class-act.” In the post below, you’ll find a clip from the moment our cast discovered their colleague’s superhero role. Don’t miss out on this special moment!
It brings me great pleasure to witness the Twisters team leaping with delight as their fellow actor clinched a career-defining role. From the beginning, Glen Powell was supportive of David Corenswet, having been among the first stars to congratulate the new Superman. Undoubtedly, Powell knows the thrill of scoring a major part himself, having been chosen to co-star alongside Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick. In an industry as cutthroat as show business, it’s heartening to see performers cheering each other on.
Alongside Powell, Katy O’Brian, a former member of the Twisters team who portrayed Dani, added her congratulations. On Twitter, she praised the DCU film, one of the highly anticipated movies in 2025, and expressed excitement about Powell’s role as Superman.
Superman was incredibly enjoyable. Krypto reminds me a lot of my own dog. Lois was simply perfect. Green Lantern surpassed the quality of his hairstyle. Lex had a charming quality that made him seem punchable. Mr. Terrific was one of the standout characters, and Superman was both powerful and dreamy.
hearing Katy O’Brian’s enthusiastic response has me eagerly planning a trip to the cinema to catch James Gunn’s latest DCU film. Critics who watched Superman have highly praised David Corenswet for his portrayal of Superman and his on-screen chemistry with Lois Lane actress Rachel Brosnahan. Given this positive feedback, it seems that Corenswet was destined to play this iconic role.
Twisters‘ Boone actor, Brandon Perea, was the cast member who recorded the video of his co-stars’ group reaction to David Corenswet landing the DCU role. After getting to watch Superman, Perea took to Instagram to reshare the video and drop his praise-filled review of the new superhero movie:
I was thrilled when I discovered that David Corenswet had been cast as Superman while filming Twisters! Let me tell you, he didn’t disappoint. So, if you haven’t already, head to theaters to catch Superman – it’s an incredible movie with outstanding performances! And let me tell you, David was nothing short of phenomenal as Superman – hands down the best!
Without a doubt, David Corenswet is receiving plenty of appreciation for his recent performance – a feeling no doubt gratifying for him given he once referred to playing Kal-El as a lofty aspiration! It’s such a delight to witness actors bring their dreams to life and flourish when they get the chance.

It’s quite ironic; when Corenswet received James Gunn’s phone call about securing the role, he found himself in a “doubting state” since he thought it might have been a prank. Thankfully, that game-changing call wasn’t a hoax and he truly would don the red-and-blue costume, even with the iconic trunks.
It appears that David Corenswet’s fellow actors continue to support him strongly, and I hope their bond will endure for many more years. There’s nothing quite as heartwarming as seeing actors stand by each other, and David is truly blessed in this regard. Don’t miss out on seeing him in theaters in ‘Superman’, and stream ‘Twisters’ with a Prime Video subscription now.
