Following rumors of a new God of War announcement expected this year, Christopher Judge, the voice actor for Kratos, has added to the excitement. In a conversation with Twitch streamer Fuhpuzy (reported by GamesRadar), Judge hinted that a new God of War project will be revealed later this summer. He also confirmed that TC Carson will once again voice the character in the upcoming remake of the God of War Trilogy.
I was so excited to hear from Judge about the future of the series! When Fuhpuzy asked if he’d be back for the remake, he confirmed it’s definitely going to be him as Kratos. And it’s not a reboot either, which is a huge relief! He said they’re planning to use new technology and add a lot more content, including a completely new fighting system. He hinted we’ll probably get more details around late summer, and I’m already counting down the days!
It wasn’t unexpected that Christopher Judge would reprise his role as Kratos, as he participated in revealing the remake earlier this month. He’s been the voice of Kratos in every God of War game leading up to the 2018 title, including spin-offs on the PSP and 2013’s God of War: Ascension.
Shortly after the recent State of Play event, rumors began circulating about a new God of War game that’s expected to be revealed later this year. According to reliable industry source shinobi602, Cory Barlog is directing the project. While an announcement is anticipated in the near future, the game isn’t expected to launch until 2028.
When asked about the reveal date, shinobi602 said they anticipate it happening around the timeframe previously discussed. They suggest it will likely be shown at the May State of Play event or at Summer Game Fest, though they don’t have confirmation yet. If it’s not revealed by then, it could mean the release date has been delayed, or they’re planning a smaller announcement before launch.
A new report suggests Kratos could be getting a scythe as a weapon in the next God of War game. While earlier rumors pointed towards an Egyptian-style curved sword, insider Tom Henderson says a scythe is also included. He also believes the next game might take place in Greece, rather than Egypt, contrary to previous speculation.
According to what I’ve heard, a new main God of War game is currently being made. Many people are guessing it will be set in Egypt, but I personally think it will return to the series’ roots in Greek mythology. I’m starting to wonder if that’s the reason behind the remake of the original three God of War games.
