Godzilla Releases New Movie Trailer (But It Might Not Be What You Think)

In recent times, Godzilla, referred to as the Monster King, has been dominating various platforms with a string of victories. Whether it’s on the big screen, television, or comic books, this colossal lizard is causing quite a stir. Although we have to hold our breath until 2027 for the next installment in the MonsterVerse, there’s a fresh short film coming up as part of an annual tradition for Godzilla fans. At this year’s G-Fest, enthusiasts can look forward to a new interpretation of their beloved King of the Monsters that could whet the appetite of kaiju lovers until the upcoming movies like Godzilla x Kong: Supernova and the sequel to Godzilla Minus One.

Mark my words, I’ll be there on November 3rd this autumn. The upcoming short film, titled “Fes Godzilla,” is set to premiere, and as a dedicated Godzilla fan, I can hardly contain my excitement! Just recently, the official G-Fest website unveiled some intriguing details about the movie.

This new installment in the special effects film series has been a staple at Godzilla Fest, making a regular appearance. Last year’s “Godzilla Fest 2024” saw the conclusion of this series to great acclaim, and now it’s back with a fresh new look!

Director Nakagawa Kazuhiro will continue his masterful work on this latest film, and actor Suzuki Fuku, renowned for his passion for special effects films, has officially joined the cast. A tantalizing teaser trailer has also been released, so keep your eyes peeled for the start of “Fes Godzilla New Century”!

Godzilla Star Talks Short Film

Acting legend Fuku Suzuki, recognized by many pop culture enthusiasts for his work in shows like Kamen Rider, recently expressed his enthusiasm about the upcoming “Godzilla-1.0” film. He shared, “After watching ‘Godzilla-1.0’ in the theater, I felt a strong urge to someday be a part of a Godzilla movie. I was thrilled to contribute to the world of Godzilla through this short film and to witness the Godzilla costume and miniature sets! As a fan of special effects, I eagerly embraced this new opportunity in visual effects. I was allowed a sneak peek at the on-set footage, and was blown away by its power. I’m looking forward to ‘Godzilla Fest 2025’ being an unforgettable experience for all!” Given his past fictional exploits battling monsters, Suzuki seems perfectly suited for this new Godzilla undertaking.

The plot for the next G-Fest short movie isn’t fully disclosed yet, but it seems that the new Godzilla will draw inspiration from some of his earlier appearances in the series. In previous kaiju events, we witnessed Godzilla battling formidable foes like Hedorah, a terrifying blob-like monster and one of Godzilla’s scariest adversaries to date. For this upcoming short film set for release in November, several iconic Toho creatures could potentially challenge the lizard king once more.
