Godzilla may be a consistent presence in movies, yet the battlefield for the King of Monsters isn’t confined to cinemas alone. IDW consistently publishes comics with the scaly ruler, and in Godzilla: Here There Be Aliens, fresh dangers are posed for both Godzilla and humanity. Previously, we shared news about significant alterations to the origin of the classic villain, Hedorah, within this comic book series. However, the same issue also introduced a unique spin on Jet Jaguar. Not only was Jet Jagua’s origin revamped, but he was connected to an iconic American figure as well.
In issue two of the comic book Godzilla: Here There Be Aliens, we learn an intriguing secret: Hedorah and an extraterrestrial race called the Xiliens played a role in shaping the famous science fiction tale, War of The Worlds. In an even more unexpected twist, one of the central characters discloses that none other than Benjamin Franklin was instrumental in crafting Jet Jaguar, a hero designed to combat Hedorah and his destructive kind. Here’s how the IDW series unveils this stunning revelation:
The designs for this originate from none other than Benjamin Franklin, one of the individuals we were discussing earlier. As a visionary ahead of his time, Franklin was far more brilliant than history textbooks typically suggest. He had conceived a device to counteract the Xiliens, but unfortunately, colonial technology wasn’t advanced enough to produce such an invention during that era. However, we are fortunate because we can.
Jet Jaguar in The MonsterVerse?
For several decades, Jet Jaguar, who first appeared in the movie “Godzilla Vs. Megalon” back in 1973, has been noticeably missing from most recent films featuring Godzilla, the Monster King. Interestingly, Jet Jaguar hasn’t shown up in either the “Godzilla Minus One” universe or Legendary’s MonsterVerse so far. However, there’s a possibility he could make an appearance in the latter at some point in the future.
Previously at egmr.ru, we had an engaging conversation with the creators of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters”, Chris Black and Matt Fraction. During our discussion, when asked about which monsters they’d like to add to the MonsterVerse, Fraction swiftly expressed his fondness for Jet Jaguar, stating, “I’d be thrilled to bring a version of a Toho creature that hasn’t been featured in the films into the show. There’s such a rich history, and I believe everyone has their own preferences. For me, Jet Jaguar is particularly appealing; he’s not quite a kaiju, but I have a soft spot for Jet Jaguar.
Throughout the same conversation, Black and Fraction debated the possibility of Jet Jaguar’s appearance, as Chris expressed his skepticism saying, “Matt continues suggesting Jet Jaguar, but I keep dismissing him. We’ll see what happens.” In response, Fraction expressed his hope for more seasons to potentially host this fight, stating, “I don’t find Jet Jaguar difficult to grasp, but I would be thrilled if we could have this fight for another six seasons.
