The Golden Globes 2026 was one for the record books.
I’m still getting used to award shows, but when they recognize deserving work, it feels right,” the Parks and Recreation star said with a laugh. “I’m new to all of this, and I really appreciate the art of filmmaking.
However, that wasn’t the only unprecedented moment of the night.
Ricky Gervais, already known for hosting the Golden Globes five times – a record in itself – has now made history again by winning two awards for Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television, a first for any performer.
I was absolutely thrilled to see Jean Smart make history again! She’s incredible, and at 74, she broke her own record to win Best Actress in a TV Musical/Comedy. It’s just amazing to witness her talent and longevity!
Owen Cooper made history as the youngest actor to win a Best Supporting Male award for his role in the TV show Adolescence. His performance launched him into the spotlight.
The Golden Globe nominations actually kicked things off a month earlier, on December 8th, before the awards show’s famous red carpet even rolled out.
Oh my gosh, can you BELIEVE it? Cynthia Erivo just made history! She’s the first Black woman EVER to get two nominations for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy movie! I was already obsessed with her as Elphaba in Wicked back in 2025 when she got her first nomination, and now she’s done it again! It’s absolutely incredible, she deserves all the recognition in the world!
The star of Wicked: For Good said she was honored to be nominated again, telling TopMob News it’s been a wonderful experience playing the character and this nomination is the perfect finishing touch.

I have to say, watching this all unfold has been incredible! She gave such a sweet shoutout to Ariana Grande, her costar and ‘sweet sister,’ and then really emphasized how much she owes to the team. She specifically thanked Jon M. Chu, our amazing director—she called him her ‘brother’ and praised his leadership—and Marc Platt, the producer, saying everyone wishes they could work with someone like him. Honestly, she made it clear this whole experience wouldn’t have happened without them!
Bella Ramsey, known for their role in The Last of Us, has made history as the first nonbinary actor to be nominated for a Golden Globe award twice. They were nominated again this year in the Best Actress – Television Series Drama category.
