The nominations for the 2026 Academy Awards are out, and Kate Hudson has officially received her second Oscar nomination! She’s been recognized for her performance in Song Sung Blue, and her mother, Goldie Hawn, shared a heartwarming message celebrating her daughter’s achievement.
Kate Hudson received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress, joining Jessie Buckley (for Hamnet), Rose Byrne (for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You), Renate Reinsve (for Sentimental Value), and Emma Stone (for Bugonia). See how Goldie Hawn reacted to her daughter’s nomination!

Hawn posted the message on her Instagram following the announcement of her nomination on Thursday morning. Now, both Hudson and Hawn have each earned two Oscar nominations. Her mother received a golden statuette back in 1970 for her supporting role in Cactus Flower. Hudson’s first Oscar nomination prior to this new one was in 2001 for Best Supporting Actress in Almost Famous, which Jennifer Connelly won for A Beautiful Mind.

Hudson played Claire Sardina in the movie Lightning and Thunder, a film based on the real-life story of a Neil Diamond tribute duo. Hugh Jackman played her husband, Mike. For the role, Hudson gained 15 pounds and got to showcase her vocal talent.
The Sardina family has strongly objected to the movie, claiming it’s completely untrue. However, Kate Hudson highlighted that she met the real Claire, who is reportedly very pleased with the film. Hudson’s performance has already earned her nominations for major awards, including the Golden Globes and Actors Awards, and she’s now been nominated for an Academy Award.
At the 2026 Golden Globes, Saoirse Ronan beat out Kate Hudson for the award, and Jessie Buckley previously won the same prize at the Critics Choice Awards. Many believe Buckley is the favorite to win Best Actress at the Oscars, but the Academy Awards are often full of surprises. Will Kate Hudson bring Goldie Hawn to the ceremony?
