IO Interactive is fully focused on its new James Bond game, 007 First Light, but they’ve reassured fans that they haven’t forgotten about Hitman and plan to continue supporting the series.
In an interview with Variety, CEO Hakan Abrak is very clear about the status of the Hitman series.
Abrak confirms that more Hitman games are planned, but the team is currently working on adding a co-op mode to the existing game, which they believe will be a great addition to the Hitman world.
Abrak also hinted that IO Interactive will soon announce a new Hitman game, confirming that another installment is definitely in the works.
It’s still unknown what the next Hitman game will be like, but the current game, Hitman 3 – now called World of Assassination – has set a high standard.
World of Assassination offers an incredible amount of content, including all the campaigns from Hitman 1 and 2, plus a variety of extra modes, ongoing Elusive Target missions, and frequent special events. It’s one of the most content-packed games available in 2025.
IO Interactive is continuing its strong support for the game throughout December with a new Elusive Target mission: Eminem wants Agent 47 to eliminate his alter ego, Slim Shady.
The next Hitman game, potentially called Hitman 4, could either be a continuation of the current game with a new story campaign, or a complete reboot of the series. Right now, it’s all just guesswork. Considering the studio is busy with other projects, we don’t expect to see a new Hitman game for quite some time.
