Following the release of the large Spec 3 Update, Kazunori Yamauchi, producer of Gran Turismo 7, revealed the game has over two million players each month. Considering the game has been receiving updates for four years, it’s particularly impressive that the player base is still growing.
During an interview at the Gran Turismo World Series 2025 World Finals, Kazunori Yamauchi told GTPlanet that Gran Turismo 7 is currently in the best state of any Gran Turismo game ever released. He noted that neither the game nor PlayStation has ever seen this level of success before.
It’s even more remarkable that Gran Turismo 7 has succeeded without lowering its price. The recent Spec 3 Update isn’t the only addition – players also received the $30 Power Pack, which includes 50 new races across 20 different types, even 24-hour events. They can also compete against GT Sophy 3.0, the newest version of the game’s AI racer, and earn new cars.
Polyphony Digital hasn’t announced plans to stop supporting the game, but it’s reasonable to question how long that will last, particularly with rumors of the PlayStation 6 potentially launching in 2027.
