Disney’s Gravity Falls has quickly become one of their most popular original creations. Though the show, following Dipper, Mabel, and Grunkle Stan, is known for its humor, creator Alex Hirsch also packed it with intriguing magic and mystery over its two seasons. While Disney hasn’t officially announced a continuation – despite past suggestions – fans are taking the initiative. Gravity Falls: Alternate Universe, a fan-made animated series, recently released its first trailer, and it’s full of unexpected twists.
The fan-made series Gravity Falls: Alternate Universe presents a fascinating twist on the original show’s story. Instead of Ford Pine facing danger from Bill Cipher, the roles are reversed: Bill is now the human, and Ford is the powerful, potentially menacing being. Artist Orxa has reimagined the characters as “Megalomaniac” Stanford Pines and a more naive Bill Cipher. A recent trailer hints at what to expect, and the full episode will be released on January 30th at 10 AM Eastern time – so fans won’t have to wait long to revisit the world of Gravity Falls.
The Future of Gravity Falls?

Despite ending in 2016, the popular show Gravity Falls still has a dedicated fanbase eager for more adventures with Mabel and Dipper. As of now, there’s no official announcement about a sequel or spin-off. However, in 2024, Meredith Roberts, a Disney executive, revealed that discussions are ongoing with the show’s creator, Alex Hirsch. He’s currently working on a book with Disney, and they’re also producing some short-form content, leading Roberts to suggest that a return to the world of Gravity Falls isn’t out of the question.
At the end of Gravity Falls, Mabel and Dipper prepared to go home as their summer vacation—and the show’s two seasons—concluded. Meanwhile, their great-uncles, Stan and Ford, finally achieved a lifelong dream: traveling the world by boat to seek new adventures. They left Soos in charge of the Mystery Shack, leaving the possibility open for future stories that could continue Dipper and Mabel’s adventures in another summer.
I recently saw a strange story about Gravity Falls. Apparently, a social media campaign started claiming that the series’ companion book, The Book of Bill, was connected to demonic themes. It was pretty surprising! The creator, Alex Hirsch, responded with humor, but thankfully, the book is still available to buy everywhere.
