The Biffle family inspired countless people before their untimely deaths.
Only hours before the tragic plane crash that took the lives of former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina Gusso, and their two children, Cristina shared a heartfelt message with her followers online.
In her last Instagram Story, Cristina motivated her followers to pursue their goals by sharing an inspiring post about Martha Stewart’s career journey.
The article pointed out that Martha Stewart didn’t begin her entrepreneurial journey until age 30. She started a catering business at 35, and remarkably, became a billionaire by the time she was 58.
Boss Babe’s original post said, “This is a reminder that you’re exactly where you need to be – you’re not falling behind!”
Cristina’s recent post wasn’t the only way she touched people’s lives. The Biffle family is fondly remembered for their kindness, and Representative Richard Hudson shared a heartfelt account of his last conversation with Cristina after their passing.
On December 18th, Congressman Biffle posted on X that he’d spoken with Cristina a few weeks prior. She contacted him to offer assistance with disaster relief in Jamaica, and he said that gesture perfectly captured the kind of people the Biffles are.
Last month, the Biffle family volunteered to help people in Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa. They also assisted local families in North Carolina earlier this year following the damage caused by Hurricane Helene. According to their representative, they carried out hundreds of rescue missions.
He went on to say that they were friends dedicated to helping those in need. Greg was a hugely popular NASCAR champion, but he was also an exceptional person. People will remember him not only for his bravery as a driver, but also for his commitment to serving others.

Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the plane crash that happened on December 18th in Statesville, North Carolina. However, Dan DePodwin, Vice President of Forecasting Operations at Accuweather, told The Charlotte Observer that the weather at the airport was poor at the time.
As a bit of a weather enthusiast, I was checking in on conditions this morning, and things definitely shifted quickly. Around 10:15 a.m., we had a steady, heavy drizzle and the clouds were quite low – about 1,200 feet up. Just fifteen minutes later, by 10:30 a.m., the cloud cover had dropped even further, down to around 400 feet, and the rain was coming down so hard that visibility was reduced to less than two miles. It was a pretty dramatic change in just a short time!
Besides the four members of the family, Craig Wadsworth, Dennis Dutton, and Jack Dutton also lost their lives in the accident, NASCAR reports.
NASCAR also honored the couple, who died with their children: 5-year-old Ryder and 14-year-old Emma, Greg’s daughter from his previous marriage to Nicole Lunders.
The organization stated on December 18th that he was dedicated to improving our community, even after retiring from racing. He was especially known for generously giving his time to help people in North Carolina after Hurricane Helene, and his efforts undoubtedly saved lives.

Beyond his charitable efforts, Greg was deeply loved by his friends and family. He was a champion driver in both the NASCAR Xfinity Series and the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series.
Greg wasn’t just a winning driver; he was a deeply respected and cherished part of the NASCAR family. He was known for his competitive spirit and the many friendships he forged. NASCAR said his love of racing, honesty, and dedication to both fans and fellow drivers will be remembered forever.
NASCAR expressed their heartfelt sympathy to Greg’s family, friends, and everyone who knew him.

It just… it breaks my heart all over again. Beyond the immediate family, three more people, Craig Wadsworth, Dennis Dutton, and Jack Dutton, were lost in that awful crash. NASCAR confirmed it, and honestly, it feels like a piece of my world went with them. They were part of the family, too, in a way. It’s just… devastating.

Greg Biffle had his loved ones by his side for life’s fastest moments. The NASCAR legend shared 5-year-old son Ryder with wife Cristina Gusso, and 14-year-old daughter Emma with his ex-wife Nicole Lunders.
The driver made sure to share his love of racing with his kids.

It was such a sweet moment! Greg, usually all about speed and getting things done, completely switched gears for his little girl, Emma. He actually took his driving shoe off and put on a dress shoe so he could properly dance with her. It really showed how much he cherishes those special times with her.

In addition to racing, Greg instilled a love of fishing in Ryder.

The racecar driver and Cristina took advantage of every moment together.

Greg and Cristina celebrated Ryder’s 5th birthday with balloons and, of course, some new racecars.

Greg never shied away from showing off his and Cristina’s date nights.

Greg’s family joined him to celebrate his induction into the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame.
